Savate: how to organize glove-colour levels in your club
Savate, French boxing where fighters punch and kick in shoes, measures progress through levels tied to glove colour rather than belts. For a coach, that means keeping track of who holds which level and what comes next. Here is how to keep it orderly without loose sheets of paper.
How do you define glove-colour levels in your club?
Each club can follow the system of the federation it belongs to: the glove colours, their order and the technical requirements for each step. What matters is that the list is written down once and is the same for every coach, rather than carried in someone's head.
When levels are configurable, you can name them after the glove colour, put them in order and assign them to each athlete. A parent or a beginner sees at once where they stand and what the next step is.
How do you group athletes by level and track their progress?
A beginner and an athlete close to the next level need different things in training: one practises guards, footwork and basic strikes, the other precision, rhythm and distance. Groups by level, each with its own schedule and coach, make the lesson clearer for everyone.
Attendance and the date of the last level earned help you see who is ready for the next assessment and who needs more time, without relying on memory alone.
How do you organize assaults and competitions?
An assault is a training bout with controlled contact, a good way to get athletes used to fighting before competitions. You can hold these between your own groups or with guest clubs, choosing pairs that are close in level and age.
For competitions, an event with an entry list and a participation fee keeps everything in one place. Afterwards the results stay in the history, and athletes can see their path from the first pair of gloves to the medals.
Dojo Master lets you define your own levels, including glove colours, split athletes into groups with schedules and coaches, track attendance, organize competitions with sign-up and fees, and keep results in the trophy room of your Savate club.
